How do I get started with searching the library?

Answer

A screenshot of ATU's library homepage. Under the words "Welcome to ATU" is a green search box labelled "Search + Find". Below this are further buttons such as "Databases A-Z" and "Exam Papers".

On the homepage of the library website, the very first thing beneath the welcome banner is a green box labelled Search + Find. This is our primary search engine, which combines our entire selection of physical and digital books along with several of our subscribed databases.

You'll notice there are buttons under it that allow for more specific searching. Databases A-Z lets you browse links to all our connection databases, while Library Catalogue will limit your search to the book on the shelves. Journals and exam papers have their own sections as well. For a standard search, however, we recommend just using Search + Find.

Once you run a search with Search + Find, you can make various adjustments. Of particular note are the filters, accessed through the first button under the searchbar (highlighted blue in the screenshot above.) These allow you to put limits on what results are shown, such as by date, format, and most importantly, whether a result is just an abstract/review or the full text.
