Why can't I download an eBook?

Answer

Many of our ebooks are available to download. Where an ebook is available for download you will usually be able to download individual chapters as pdf files, and in some case, the full ebook. As our ebook collections come from different vendors, the way you download ebooks may differ. Below are the details for our main vendors.

EBSCO eBooks

In order to download EBSCO eBooks, you must have Adobe Digital Editions (which is free) installed on your computer. We recommend ensuring you have the most recent version of Digital Editions installed.

ProQuest eBook Central eBooks

To download ebook Central e-books you will need to install Adobe Digital Editions (or the Bluefire Reader app to download to your mobile). This software enforces Digital Rights Management. It allows you to download the e-book for a set period of time, but with limited functionality. The first time you open a book (which has an .acsm extension) you will be asked to "Authorize Your Computer". The ebook vendor showing by default is "Adobe ID"; do not modify this default.
